Updates on American Food Chains

I seem to have a common theme of food going on here. Subway keeps growing and growing and I heard there are more subway chains in the world now than McDonalds! There are over 1399 subway restaurants alone in UK.  We have 10 of them now in Oxfordshire.  I am in West Oxfordshire and we just recently had one open here in the Carterton/Brize Norton area, inside a BP petrol (gas) station. I really love their salads. I also noticed that Papa John's Pizza has arrived in the area and there is now one in Rose Hill, Oxford.   Outside of Oxfordshire area,  in the Milton Keynes Shopping Center, they have Quiznos Subs and Annies Pretzels. Also, heard there is a couple of Outback steak houses just outside of London.

  1. Great blog! I haven't lived in the states for 22 yrs, but the thing I miss most is the food. Proper Italian food... Ellio's frozen pizza- does that even still exist? Fortune cookies, scallops that don't cost the Earth, IHOP and chocolate chip pancakes and a proper NY Italian Sub. True, the chocolate here is superior (am I starting a debate??), but English marshmallows are just sickly; nothing touches American ones! Can't wait to read your next post- keep it up!

  2. Just be glad you don't have a Taco Bell. They have really gone downhill. Ate there the other day, after not having eaten there in a really long time and they are just not good anymore. I remember in the 70's and 80's when I ate there all the time. In Norman we have Taco Bueno and they are so much better than Taco Bell.

  3. There is suppose to be a Taco Bell at Lakenheath Air Base near Cambridge . Last year when we visited the US we ate at Taco Bell and Wendys and Red Lobster. Disappointed with them all. Luckily,we have one really good Mexican Restaurant around here (besides my house) called Mission Burritos...about $7-$8 for a stuffed Burrito...
